Add an Account

Use these steps.

1.Select the Account Type from the drop-down and use the appropriate steps below, depending on your selection.

If you selected: use these steps:
Checking
  1. Type an account name (see the tips).
  2. Select the date the account was opened using the calendar icon.
  3. Type the starting account balance.
  4. Click Submit.
Savings
  1. Type an account name(see the tips).
  2. Select the date the account was opened using the calendar icon.
  3. Type the starting account balance.
  4. Click Submit.
Credit Card
  1. Type an account name (see the tips).
  2. Select the date the account was opened using the calendar icon.
  3. Type the starting account balance
  4. Click Submit.
Asset
  1. Type an asset name (if it is your primary residence, consider a name like Our Home).
  2. Select the starting date (this is the date you took ownership of the asset, regardless of the payoff date).
  3. Select a category(for example, if this is your primary home, select Real Estate).
  4. Type the original value of the asset.
  5. Type the current (estimated) value of the asset.
  6. Select to include it in your net worth (if you owe money on this asset, you will offset this asset value with a liability).
  7. Click Submit.
Liability
  1. Type an asset name (if it is your primary residence, consider a name like Our Mortgage).
  2. Select the starting date(this is the date you took ownership of the liability, regardless of the payoff date).
  3. Select a category (for example, if this is your home mortgage, select Real Estate Mortgage).
  4. Type the original value of the liability.
  5. Type the current (estimated) value of the liability.
  6. Select to include it in your net worth(this is where your liabilities will offset the asset value).
  7. Click Submit

This account will now be listed in the appropriate section in My Accounts and summarized in the Accounts Summary section. Your Net Worth amount may also be adjusted to accommodate assets and liabilities, depending on what accounts you have listed.

Tips

Many users will have multiple accounts of each category, so be sure to give the account a name that makes it easy to recognize. For example, if the checking account is your joint account with your spouse, use a name like Joint Account for Paying Bills.
